Patanjali continues to detail the benefits of practicing the yams and niyamas to motivate the practitioner, here he talks of the benefit of niyama of ‘eeshvar pranidhaana’,

Samaadhisidhih : perfection of samadhi
Eeshvar pranidhaanaat : from the surrender to Divine
By complete surrender to Divine, samadhi is attained.
Samadhi is often understood as the finality of yog. Actually, there is nothing called as ‘finality’, yog is a constant journey — for there is no limit to the experience of Shiv. Samadhi is the state of being close to Shiv, to the divine. And that can happen only when one leaves that which made him/her separate in the first place — ‘I’, ‘me’, ‘mine’. Complete surrender to the divine; your body, your thoughts and your life/time in the body, and working as a mere instrument for His cause, leaving the rest to Him alone, is the path to attaining Samadhi — like salt in the ocean.
