The seed of Rudraksha tree is credited to possess mystical and divine properties. Necklaces made of Rudraksha beads are considered auspicious as well as powerful, and are supposed to have profound astrological and health benefits.
According to ancient thought, Rudraksha beads have several amazing powers to cure the human body medically as well as spiritually.
Scientifically, the Rudraksha beads are dielectric as they store electrical energy and also possess permanent magnetic properties. They impart positive charges in the bioelectrical system of the human body in a life supporting manner. As a result, the electrical make up of our body changes.
These beads have the property of diamagnetism, that is, they temporarily acquire magnetism of an external magnetic field, thus helping in holistic healing.
Though the powerful effect of the Rudraksha beads was long known to the vedic masters, it is only since the late eighties that their effect has been acknowledged by modern men, after the research done by a group of scientists led by Dr. Subas Rai, of the Institute of Technology, University of Benaras, India. This research establishes the beneficial powers of Rudraksha by virtue of its electrical and magnetic properties that affect our central nervous system, autonomic, sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems and other organ systems.
Research proves that Rudrakshas have powerful electromagnetic, paramagnetic and inductive properties that vary according to the different mukhis or facets (the different number of divisions found on the surface of each bead). It was also found that wearing or performing japa with a particular mukhi or a set of mukhis of the Rudraksha creates specific electrical impulses that are sent to the brain through the process of galvanic skin response, stimulating certain brain centres that transfer information.
