Traitors

Ego takes you away from yog, from your Guru. It makes you a traitor in the spiritual world.

In every aspect of life, there is energy which supports you and energy which is against. There is also a third category, which is the category of traitors. These are petty minded people, highly egoistic, who are neither with you or against you but for little bit of gain and to satisfy their egos, try to cause damage.

History abounds with examples of traitors. There was a Jaichand who in order to massage his petty ego, betrayed Prithviraj Chauhan and joined the enemy camp, opening doorways to the Mughal invasion of India. Betrayal of Gilani Brothers at the crucial point in the final Battle of Talikota paved way for the defeat of Vijayanagar Empire at the hands of Deccan Sultanate. The fall of Tipu Sultan in the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War was brought about by treachery from close associates, Mir Sadiq and Purniah, which allowed British army to break into the fort. Julius Caesar found his close friend and ally, Brutus, among his attackers, paving way to his end. All these traitors aided the destruction of empires.

Now a special trait of Kaliyug is that traitors emerge at the lowest level of conflict for petty gains to satisfy their egos. These traitors may be classified into three categories. First, is basic level traitors, who have had some experience but because of a small attraction leave the path of spirituality. Next, are mid-level traitors who have had major experiences and because of a petty desire try to carry out any amount of damage in the spiritual or physical realms. Finally, there are high level traitors, those who are eligible to become Gurus but are unable to distinguish between spiritual and physical power. Actually, they are not interested in the spiritual world, they use spiritual as medium to gain in the material world. They look for opportunities for self-glorification by talking big things in front of a crowd or looking for networking or business associates. Initially this may be ok if eventually one takes recourse to the spiritual world but if this continues then you are in the spiritual world for the wrong reasons. Actually, you are not in the spiritual world and so one day the karmic effects of being a spiritual traitor will spell misery for you.

The examples of treachery that I quoted earlier were all pertaining to physical people, hence those people were destroyed by traitors. In the realm of spirituality, however, it doesn’t function like this. A spiritual Guru cannot be harmed by traitors but those who betray, in the process, aid their own destruction. People who go against a spiritual Guru are never able to distinguish between physical and spiritual and are destined to doom. They take physical to be the ultimate and look for glorification in the physical – amassing followers to satisfy their ego.

If you haven’t had an experience of yoga, it is understandable, since your journey has not started as yet. But if you have had the experience, which you have accepted is not normal or is supernatural since you cannot explain it and then if after that you talk of anything negative, it is considered one of the biggest crimes. This should be avoided at all costs because after having an experience, if even a thought goes towards that energy (or your Guru), in whose bodily presence you had a real experience, then it is considered a disrespect to the energy and the experience. Here, by experience I refer to a real experience of yoga, something which is not in the mind or an autosuggestion. For example, if someone tells you ‘go in purple light, and in that purple light, try to look for an Om’ – that is an autosuggestion, not an experience. But if something is really happening without giving autosuggestions and if you term that real experience as brainwashing to satisfy your petty mind, then that would be disastrous for you.

In the present yug, to have a spiritual experience and to maintain it and progress in it is difficult because asuric forces predominate in this yug, which cause one to discount his/her experiences and turn negative because these forces cannot tolerate reality. But spiritual evolution is also the easiest in this yug, provided one maintains the focus on his/her Guru.

Important point is that in a lot of cases, the spiritual experiences are only in the mind and not real, this is determined by the ego and the evolutionary stage of the practitioner…both are inversely proportional to each other. With highly egoistic people, the evolutionary levels are very very low, hence the mind, self glorifies and gives false experiences, this further feeds the ego and they spell destruction for themselves…spiritual traitors emerge from this group. For them there is no hope…only doom.
